Are you ready for Social Media?

social media strategy

Hopefully, you are already using social media. You might be using it well, you might be using it sporadically, you might have signed up for social media accounts but never used them.

Whatever your circumstances, the new year presents you with an opportunity to start afresh.

However, before you start “doing” social media it is important to review your social media channels to:

  1. Decide where you are going to focus your efforts;
  2. Set Goals;
  3. Set up your profiles and ensure that they are up to date and consistent; and
  4. Update your website and social media links.

Decide where you are going to focus your efforts and Set your Goals

These need to be considered together as the decision as to where you are going to focus your efforts will be influenced by what your social media goals are. Additionally, depending on what social media platform you choose you might have slightly different goals.

Set up your Profiles (and ensure that they are consistent) and link to your Website

Your Profiles are your shop window. Therefore they should be attractive and up to date. If someone wants to find about more about you, they are likely to click through to view your profile.

It is also important that your brand is consistent across each of your platforms so that you are recognisable to your customers. Therefore part of your preparation should include ensuring that your profiles reflect your brand and are consistent.

Update your website and social media links.

For most people, the ultimate goal of their social media marketing will be to influence people and encourage them to look at your product or service – and eventually buy it!

Therefore it is very important that your profile pages and social media activity guide your audience to the correct place to enable them to look at your product and make a purchase. If you are targeting a different call to action, your profile set up and links should reflect this.

Ideally, your social media profiles should have all the information your potential customers need to find your website or contact you directly.
