R is for… Retweeting

Over the years that I have been using the “retweet” has changed dramatically. However, the “retweet with comment” option is probably the best thing that could happen for networking and engagement on Twitter. Quoting the retweet allows you to add your own comment (in your own voice) about what is interesting or why you are sharing that particular tweet.

It can be easy and convenient to simply hit retweet without adding a comment. We are all guilty of this. However, you are missing a trick if you never use the retweet with comment option.

Other interesting things are that you can retweet with a comment multiple times (unlike the autoretweet).

However, it should be noted that if you autoretweet or comment retweet the person who originally posted the tweet will only get a notification of your retweet in their notifications. They will not get notified in their mentions tab. It should also be noted the official retweet count of a tweet (i.e. the number next to the retweet icon on a given tweet) is only attributed to auto retweets.

Nevertheless the Retweet is a great way to engage on twitter and get your opinion out there.

Thank you for stopping by during the A to Z Challenge.

Do you add comments to your retweets? or do you stick to the autoretweets?
