C is for… Chats (Twitter Chats)

Twitter chats are a great way to network on twitter and grow your following.

Twitter Chats are perfect for engaging with your audience on particular topics and on a regular basis.

Taking part in twitter chats are a great way to engage with your audience and find new audiences/people on twitter on your expert topic (or other topics that you are interested in talking about). As with all networking you get out what you put in: If you’re active and engage with others, you can form relationships, build credibility and grow your brand. If you engage in the same twitter chats on a regular basis this can grow massively.

How to Find Twitter Chats

There are chats for EVERYTHING.

However, you will want to find chats that are active and align with what you talk about / who you want to meet and network with. Look out in your feed for twitter chats that your followers and the people you are following engage in and look out for twitter chats that the influencers you follow engage with. Finally, if you are not seeing anything that tickles your fancy why not ask for recommendations.

Participating in a Twitter Chat

Once you have identified a chat to take part in you will need to make sure that you actively participate in the chat and engage with the others participating in the chat (not just the host). Reply and engage with the other attendees. Don’t multi-task, be present and engage properly.

After the chat is over, follow-up with the other participants and follow / message people of interest. Manage the people who you connect with and engage with by using twitter lists.

Finally, if the chat works for you and you are meeting the right people – make the chat a regular activity – being a regular will mean that you will build your relationships with the other participants over time.

Thank you for stopping by during the A to Z Challenge.
