A to Z Challenge: U is for… URL

AtoZ2019U

We often talk about thought leadership as a strategy for improving your visibility and raising your profile. This is why we have made Thought Leadership the overarching theme for our first A to Z Challenge.

Thought Leadership ties together the different strategies that we talk about including writing, speaking, networking, PR and Marketing. Thought-Leadership is about utilising your expertise and deep specialism and knowledge to answer questions, covering trends in your business/sector and being part of the conversation.

Simply put: it is being an Authority.

During the challenge, we will be looking at different ways that you can demonstrate thought-leadership and raise your profile.

Take Ownership

Your name should be your personal brand when seeking to establish yourself as a thought-leader therefore it is important to use your name (and reference your company and name togther where appropriate).

Take ownership of your own name and perhaps equally important – have your own website and URL (this might be your name or business or brand name), your own home. Make it easy for people to find you and seek you out.

Website: have your own website with your desired URL even if you just use it as a landing page with links to your company website or social media, how to get in contact and a mini C.V demonstrating your expertise as a thought-leader.

Company/Corporate Website: On your company website see if you can set up so that you have an easy to use URL that you can share with others easily / put on your business cards etc. For example: yourcompany.com/yourname

Social Media: update your URLs on social media so that you have your own personalised URL and where possible – make them consistent.

For Twitter and Instagram, your URL will be the same as your username (so if you want to change your URL you need to change your username). If your actual name is already gone – you might want to make it something associated with your brand or niche.
