Quick Tip: Use LinkedIn Kudos to Say Thanks

networking tips for LinkedIn

People who feel appreciated are happier. In these uncertain times, a small thing that you can do to help your team, employees and wider network feel apprciated is to say thank you.

LinkedIn has a feature for giving “Kudos” to make it easier for you give a shout-out to those in your professional network and celebrate their successes.

How to Give Kudos on LinkedIn

On LinkedIn Desktop or the App, click create a new post to get started. This will give you the option to “celebrate a teammate” which then gives you the option to “give kudos”.

Once you have selected this option you can then choose the relevant person from your list of connections and then chose the relevant “Kudos Award” from the list. Examples include:

  • Thank you
  • Going above and beyond
  • inspirational leader
  • team player
  • great job
  • making work fun
  • amazing mentor
  • outside the box thinker
  • great presentation
  • making an impact

Once you have selected the award you can then add a description to the rest of your post in the usual way before posting on LinkedIn. This will be shared in your LinkedIn Feed and the person you recognized will also receive a notification letting them know that you gave them a shout-out, in addition to seeing it in their feed.
