Like all networking and business development activities, it is important to measure. Social Media Analytics can be great for giving you some hard data to measure and review.

On Instagram, you need a business account to get analytics. So if you have not already switched to a business account from a personal one you should do so. Please note that you need a Facebook business page set up to do this – so do this first).

The business account will give you acess to plenty of Instagram Insights including:

  • your top posts
  • insights about your audience and followers including when they are online, the gender split, age range, and geographic location
  • interactions with your content and profile
  • insights into individual post activity
  • your reach.

In relation to individual posts you can look into more detail into likes and comments and other engagements as well as profile visits, website visits and reach as well as impressions (which are broken down further). This can help you analyse what content is doing well and which types of content or CTAs are helping you to reach your goals.

If you use a scheduler or third party application they may have even more analytics and insights that you can use.
