How to: Find your Local Networking Events

NTFB Blog Posts - networking groups

Start with a quick google search of “networking events [insert city here]”. If you live in a big city this can be quite overwhelming but it is a start. If you live in a smaller town or village your search is more likely to be “Events in…” to pull up what is going on.

01 Use your City Event Calendar

Your city is likely to have an online events calendar for city-wide events. You may even have multiple calendars based on industry. For example if you are in the property industry – you might have a number of property and construction calendars locally, as well as the city events one.

2. Use Eventbrite, LinkedIn and Meet-up

There are a number of websites where people post events, that you can search and follow different events and organisations. This includes websites like Eventbrite, LinkedIn, Facebook and Meet-Up. Other people post events, and you get to search through them and sign up. You might even have a local equivalent.

3. Utilize Your Existing Network

That’s right—ask around at work and around your network. Maybe your coworkers are in industry-specific professional networks or might know of some local groups or meetings that you can attend.

Reach out to connections in your existing network and see what events they’ve found helpful or interesting and ask them to let you know of any upcoming events.
