Ending your Elevator Pitch: Ending with a Question

When using an elevator pitch at a networking event, the usual ending to an Elevator Pitch is “What do you do?” to the other person, but what if everyone has already done their introductions. It is important to have something to enable the conversation to develop rather than disappear and fade out.

Appropriate conversation follow-up will of course depend on the situation and the group of people you are with – however examples of ways you can end your Elevator Pitch might include:

  • “What’s your interest here/at this event?”
  • “What are you most wanting to get out of this event/your visit here?”
  • “How would you like to improve/change/grow your own network, your own business activities, this sort of event, etc?”

If the conversation is a brief one and this is the end of the conversation other appropriate questions might be:

  • “May I give you my card?”
  • “Can a contact you? I would love to chat more about [insert topic of interest here]”.
